The American Road is committed to ensuring that your privacy is protected. This privacy provision describes how theamericanroad.org protects the information you provide, whether you do so intentionally or unknowingly, when you visit or submit information to us.

Cookies

If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

If you submit or publish content for inclusion on our site, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the third-party website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Log Ins

We will keep track of the log-in information provided by individual users of this site. We will not make this information available to anyone outside of The American Road unless you have authorized us to do so on your behalf. Even in such instance we will not disseminate private, personally identifying information, but with your approval, may disseminate designated materials containing appropriate attribution of ownership and copyright(s) detail.

Submissions

We will keep track of the number of submissions we receive but not keep any record of how often any particular party visits. If you post contributions to interactive elements that may be developed your identification as you provide it to the site will be apparent to others. Also, because we respect copyright and trademark laws, if you submit content we need to keep temporary, internal track of your name and contact details in order to be able to reach out to you if any question arises about ownership or content of the submitted material. It is your obligation to observe copyright, trademark and any other applicable laws that have an impact on materials you post on this site.

For users that register on our website we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have provided contact information through this site, including any data you have provided to us voluntarily, you can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where we send your data

If you sign up for updates through our contact or other capture options, your information will be used with our newsletter service, MailChimp. If you make a financial contribution to the project or make any other type of purchase, your information is shared with a credit card processor. We will not sell, distribute or lease any information about you to anyone.

Purchases and other transactions

If we make our own branded merchandise available through this site, we may also receive payment for same. Anyone who makes a purchase, if available, will necessarily be required to provide sufficient personal information to make the transaction online (such as name/address/credit card information) but will be doing so directly and discretely with financial aspects through a third-party secured payment method (e.g. Braintree or Paypal) and not through us. The payment information will never be in our possession, nor stored or used by us in any fashion. We will retain contact information for shipping and other similar needs.
